What this educational project is about.

Through the combination of imagery and text generated by the students on a competition basis, the mural aims to communicate ideas about what reading means to those students and to provide an opportunity for them to research, select and create ideas of their own about the river Elbe that flows through Hamburg. Text that flows through the waves, on ribbon banners inspire-tattoos pulled along by seagulls, and onto and around images of all things maritime, include poetry, statements and quotes. The environment has been enhanced through colour and an exciting composition to welcome children into school each day, the text drawing them in to deepen their contemplation of the written word.
